I am proud of the work we have accomplished together for West Covina. As your Mayor and Councilwoman, I have worked to make our community safer, stronger, and more vibrant while protecting our financial future.
In recent years, we have:
- Strengthened public safety by adding 10 police officers and expanding the Flock camera system to help recover stolen vehicles and solve crimes.
- Invested in our Fire Department, including upgraded equipment, fire station renovations, and a new Type 3 fire engine.
- Strengthened our finances by maintaining a budget surplus and refinancing our $204 million unfunded pension liability from 7% to 3.7%, generating more than $52 million in projected savings.
- Invested in all 16 parks to provide safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for our families, while advancing the Parks Master Plan.
- Expanded housing opportunities, adding 511 completed housing units and supporting first-time homebuyer down payment assistance.
- Added 10 Public Works and 10 Code Enforcement positions to help address streets, graffiti, parks, and neighborhood concerns.
- Supported local businesses and economic development through Taste of West Covina and helping bring Haven City Market to our community.
- Invested in our youth by founding Film It West Covina, an annual student film festival showcasing the creativity of our young people.
This is only the beginning. I am proud of what we have accomplished, and I will continue working to make West Covina safer, stronger, financially responsible, and a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
